Back when the GDPR was still within the adaptation phase, data-driven organisations and public bodies that process personal data on a large scale found the new obligation of data minimisation to be a rather vague obstacle. The GDPR states that personal data shall be adequate, relevant, and not excessive in relation to the purpose or purposes for which they are processed, but this concept still often poses challenges for some firms.
